Eva Gambon

She is the embodiment of grace, agility and strength, both on and off the dance floor. Eva Gambon may have only just turned 10, but her life story has made her wise beyond her years. It’s a story that has taken her from hospital operating rooms to a role in a Boston ballet.

Eva, who lives in Rockland, was diagnosed in utero with a birth defect that affected the development of several structures on the left side of the heart muscle. She has undergone five open heart surgeries and now has a pacemaker.

When blood thinners prevented her from participating in contact sports, Eva turned to dance. She was a natural. This past holiday season, Eva performed eight shows in José Mateo Ballet Theatre’s production of “The Nutcracker.”

Eva and her family will tell the rest of their remarkable story as the Open Your Heart & Mind speakers at the Boston Heart & Stroke Ball on April 29 at the Boston Park Plaza. Click here to read more about Eva’s story. Click here for information about the Boston Heart & Stroke Ball.
